List of contents or brief listing of report section:

If it is a brief report (2 pages or less) then this section can be skipped.

Abstract

REPORT KEY FINDINGS HERE. Summarize the major aspects of the statistical methods and results. Report the question(s) that were investigated, the statistical methods used and the major findings in two or three sentences. The major findings can also be as simple as a graph or table.

Data

\xB7 Version of data: (Total N and where applicable give the location and name of analysis data set)

\xB7 Describe Exclusion/Inclusion Criteria and the analysis sample size

\xB7 Variable definitions : what formula/condition to create a numeric or categorical variables

Statistical Methods

Write publication ready statistical methods section. Investigator will independently write the methods on non-statistical methods such as how the study was conducted or how the data was gathered along with the study procedures.

Describe how the data were summarized and analyzed including:

\xB7 Data transformations used(e.g., to correct for normal distribution or equalize variances)

\xB7 Statistical methods used with reference to the particular questions, or kinds of questions, they address.

\xB7 The level used to determine significance

\xB7 Statistical software used

Investigators will cut and paste this into their papers.

Research Objectives

The research objective as stated in the analysis plan.

Results

Organize the results section based on the sequence of Table and Figures you'll include OR in order of the items in the Statistical Analysis plan.

o Do not make conclusions or interpretation here.

o Purpose of the results: objectively present any planned and ad-hoc results

o Include descriptive statistics (summary)

o Reporting results of inferential hypothesis tests: key results

o Summarizing statistical test outcomes in figures / table

o Every p-value reported needs an associated test statistic.

o Every statistical estimate needs to have an associated measure of error.

o Be aware you might need to conform to publication style guidelines. Check target journal instructions to authors.

Discussion

Discuss and interpret results in paragraph form. Make statistical results understandable for layman readers.

Refer to each Table and/or Figure by number from the results section. Key results depend on your questions; they might include obvious trends, important differences, similarities, correlations, maximums, minimums, etc.
