Manuscript
Produce a manuscript working with statistician on techniques and variables.
Appropriate Techniques
What are your assumptions? e.g. normality
Software
- What software are you using for your analysis?
- You cannot use point and click software.
- You need reproducible research that can be re-run by another investigator.
Interpreting Results
- You will check your assumptions for normality and linearity.
Manuscript Presentation
- Pick a target journal and format your manuscript accordingly.
- Prepare tables and graphs. Check Statistical Graphics for good graphical practices and code.
- Results Section:
- Who is in your study?
- Building from simple to complex analysis.
- Be sure that you have addressed any artifacts or confounding in your data.
- Methods Section:
- Clearly state your methods.
- How did you get your variables?
- What software did you use?
- Discussion:
- Highlight your key findings.
- How consistent or inconsistent were your findings with the previous literature?
- What are the limitations on your findings? e.g. sample size or generalizability
- What are the strengths of your findings? e.g. objective measurement
- What are the implications for the future? What should people study next?
